MEDIA ADVISORY
Lake Anne Revitalization Project
The team of Basile Baumann Prost & Associates, Conklin Costantin Architects LLP, and Architecture Inc. will make a formal presentation of the proposed land use design guidelines and draft land use text for the Comprehensive Plan for the Lake Anne Village Center on March 28, 2007. The meeting will be held at the Lake Anne Elementary School, 11510 North Shore Drive, Reston, VA. starting at 7:30 p.m. A summary of the guidelines and land use text will be posted on the Fairfax County Department of Planning and Zoning web-site at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/dpz/projects/lakeanne.htm for your review prior to the meeting.
The work of BBPA and its Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) is the culmination of almost three years of community activities, starting with a request for an economic study on Lake Anne in June 23, 2004. The Economic Analysis was presented by BBPA to the community on March 16, 2005. A host of focus groups to ascertain community desires for Lake Anne, conducted by the perspective group, were completed in June of 2005. This was followed by a three day Charrette, held from June 16 through 18, 2005 that was sponsored by the Northern Virginia Regional Commission to identify revitalization strategy options for the Lake Anne Village stakeholders. The community is one step closer to seeing the revitalization of Lake Anne become a reality.
Hunter Mill District Supervisor Catherine Hudgins noted, “It’s important to restore the vibrancy of Lake Anne, Reston’s first village center, known for its world class design and architecture. I look forward to working with the community.”
