Snow Sports Weekend, Seven Springs Resort

 Event: 2009 Snow Sports Weekend, skiing, snowboarding, telemark and tubing at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Seven Springs, PA.  www.7springs.com

When: Friday, January 23 to Sunday, January 25

Who:  All scouts and families.  If a child other than the scouts is going, a parent must attend as well.   Please eat dinner before you come to the Church on Friday.  Everyone needs to have at least one buddy.  Buddy system enforced through out the trip.  Always be with and know where our buddy is.

Costs:

Sign up and Non-Refundable Deposit of $50 is due Monday, December 8, 2008.

The cost estimate for lodging, 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner, 2 day lift pass and tubing Saturday evening, use of the swimming pool and exercise room is $205 including tax.  Ski rental is $34 and snow board is $52 for the weekend.  Each group lesson is an additional $20.  You need to bring $20 minimum for lunch on Saturday, Sunday and a snack on the way home Sunday evening.  Cost will range from $225 to $295, depending on rentals and lessons.  Arcade, mini-golf, roller skating and bowling are extra, see www.7springs.com for details.  Sign up on the board at the church or by email to Mr. Karsten.  See Mr. Karsten for details.

Getting there: We will meet at the church, 5:30PM, Friday, January 23.  No dinner stop is planned so please come to the church fed.  We need volunteer drivers to have enough for drivers and passenger space for everyone including gear.  Please note if you can drive and how many passengers you can take, including gear, on the sign up sheet or by email to Mr. Karsten. 

Lodging:  We will be staying in the Hotel in bunk rooms, 3 bunk beds / six people to a room.  There is some flexibility and we will work to make sure safe scouting rules are followed separating gender and age.

Food:

Two breakfasts and one dinner are included.  Bring $$ for lunch on the mountain with your buddy as well as for a snack on the way home Sunday ($20 min).  

On the Mountain

We will be staying on the mountain so no need to shuttle back and forth, the hotel is at the mountain.  ASM Ken Karsten can be reached by cell phone at 410-507-2387 or email.

Snow Sports Merit Badge:  On snow testing available for skiing or snowboarding on Saturday or Sunday.  Please let Mr. Karsten know if you plan to test for Snow Sports merit badge.

Drivers: We need drivers - Please let Mr. Karsten know if your parent(s) can drive and how many people they can bring.

Departure: Friday, January 11, 2007.  Meet at the church 5:30PM; head out by 6:00 PM.  Eat Dinner before you come.  Bring your own snacks for the weekend.  We will stop for a snack on the way out (bring $$ for this or enough snacks from home).  We should arrive at New Germany State Park by 9:00PM.

Return:  Sunday, January 25, 2009.  After a quick stop for a snack on the way back, (bring about $5 for this) we should be back at the Church by 9:00PM approximate.  We will have scouts call parents by cell phone on the way back with our best ETA
