Welcome to Shawn Mallan's herping homepage.  "Herping", for those unfamiliar with the word, is the term used for an interest in reptiles and amphibians.  Below you will find links to several of my past herping trips: a Greentracks herping trip to southwestern Costa Rica in 2002 (Piedras Blancas NP near Golfito), a Margarita Tours herping trip to the Peruvian Amazon in 2003, a self-guided herping trip to southeastern Costa Rica in 2004 (Cahuita region), a 2005 Hiss-n-Things trip to the area of Costa Rica near Jaco on the Pacific coast, a 2006 trip to Piedras Blancas (again), plus the OSA Pensinsula, and another trip in 2007 with Hiss-n-Things.  I've also included several pictures of herps I've found locally (San Francisco bay area).  I am in the process of combining all of my species pictures into a more easily accessible site.  Please check back again soon.  I also hope to add a new trip to this site each year.  If you'd like to contact me, please email smallan @ comcast.net
