"Yakky Doodle, you were our first cat in our new house 13 years ago. You named yourself with your incessant chatter, and you endeared yourself to us with your sweet little personality. You have always been a part of our lives and always will be. You didn't deserve to go this way, but you were loved so much that we thought we were doing what was best for you every year. You never complained about anything. You are our little hero. We are so sorry that we caused this. Please forgive us, Yakky. We love you very much."
