Introduction

You always knew that you wanted to work with dinosaur remains.  Ever since you read books like Digging Up Dinosaurs, My Visit to the Dinosaurs, and Fossils Tell of Long Ago, all by Aliki, dinosaurs excited you.  Your dreams of being a dinosaur expert have come true!  You now work as a member of a well respected dinosaur expert team.

Task
As a team of dinosaur experts, you have been asked to go on a dig in a location believed to have many dinosaur teeth remains.  The museum asking this of you would like to hire your team full time and has provided a job description for each member of the team.

Process
For each fossil that your team digs up, you will have to do the following:

Worker:
(the person who digs the fossils out of the rock)
Use the appropriate tools to dig out any dinosaur fossils.

Paleontologist:
(the scientist who studies ancient plants and animals)
Determine what type of fossil your team has found.

Draftsman
(the person who draws pictures of the fossils)
Make a drawing of what the fossils look like.

Photographer
(the person who photographs the fossil)
Use the digital camera to take a picture of the fossil.

1)  Start at your assigned location.

2)  The worker must use the tools to search for the fossil.

3)  Once it is found, the paleontologist must use online resources to identify the fossil (confirm with your team, first) and then record its name.

4)  At the same time, the draftsman must draw a sketch of the fossil (the worker should help by measuring the fossil in cm).

5)  The photographer should be taking pictures of the process and then of the fossil itself.

6)  Afterwards the fossil must be placed, by the worker, back in its original location for the specialist to later prepare for the museum.

7)  Continue this process for the next locations.

8)  Use the online resources to learn more about the dinosaurs!  Complete this report for the museum and attach the photograph next to the information.  Your will need to present it to their board!

GOOD LUCK!

Resources
Use the link to find the information for each dinosaur and then record.

~Worker - determine what the dinosaur ate
~Paleontologist - classify the dinosaur into its appropriate family
~Draftsmen - confirm the dinosaur's tooth length
~Photographer identify special features of the dinosaur fossil

Evaluation
Now you will need to present your findings to the museum's board.  Express your answers well and show how well you worked as a team- your job depends on it!

Conclusion
Now that you have lived out your dream of being a dinosaur expert, what you would tell children about the experience?
