Welcome to the McIntyre Web Site. George, Mercedes, Chuck (Mickey),
and Sandy McIntyre enjoyed creating this web site with the help of many
contributors. We hope you will enjoy learning the origin and meaning
of the McIntyre name, and about our family's
past heritage, beginning with the first McIntyre to immigrate from Scotland
around 1774. You will be able to follow one branch of the family that
extends back to 1517.
The McIntyre name goes back to the 14th
century. Before that they were associated with the McDonald Clan
which is traced back to 1100AD.
We hope you will enjoy learning about
our family's heritage and becoming acquainted the descendents of John
Sherman McIntyre (1880-1971) and Leona May Stewart McIntyre
(1884-1942). These pages will help preserve the memories of
grandparents, aunts, and uncles for generations to come.
This is a "work in
progress." We would like to hear from descendants who would like
to see their story added to this site. Please come back often
to see new entries.
Oct. 14, 2006: Visit the new web site created by Sandy McIntyre for Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County by clicking on: www.literacychangeslives.org. Sandy tutors English as a Second Language (ESL) students and is the Treasurer and Webmaster for this organization that helps adults to improve their speaking, reading, and writing of English.
