The Steamrunner class was a type of
starship in service with the Federation Starfleet in the late 24th
century. Ships of this class saw action in the Battle of Sector 001 in
2373, where several were lost. Several ships of this class also saw
action in Operation Return in 2374 and the second Battle of Chin'toka in
2375. (Memory Alpha)

| A Subspace Relay is an object which receives subspace communications signals and retransmits them. Signals sent in the subspace realm travel faster-than-light (FTL). Over vast distances, such signals will eventually emerge into normal space, dropping to very slow light speed, which would make interstellar communications very nearly impossible. Subspace relays solve this problem by receiving FTL subspace communications before they emerge into normal space and retransmitting them in subspace at higher energies, allowing the signal to travel further in subspace, and to arrive at its final destination much faster, than it could without the relay. | The MIDAS array, or Mutara Inter-Dimensional Deep Space Transponder Array, was a communications array developed jointly between Starfleet and the Vulcans. It utilized hyper-subspace technology to greatly speed up transmission time. It was launched around 2376, and used to make contact with USS Voyager in that year. | One of the single most historically, politically, and strategically important space stations in the Alpha Quadrant, Deep Space 9, originally known as Terok Nor, is an orbital space station constructed by the Cardassians in orbit of Bajor. Under Federation administration following the Cardassian withdrawal, DS9 transformed into a vital commercial port and defense outpost because of its strategic location near the mouth of the Bajoran wormhole. It also became a key tactical location in the Dominion War. (Memory Alpha) | |

| In starship classification, a runabout is the designation of a type of vessel smaller than a starship but larger than a shuttlecraft. Runabouts are equipped with limited weapons and drive systems, but offer additional living space and have a larger operational range compared to shuttles. Runabouts are typically assigned to stations or starships as auxiliary craft. The Danube-class of runabouts was in service in the second half of the 24th century. (DS9: "Emissary", "Paradise"; TNG: "Timescape"; VOY: "Non Sequitur") (Memory Alpha) | |

A space station is an artificial
structure in space, often built to support life. Space stations can
serve many purposes, including research, defense and starship
maintenance. Space stations can be in orbit of a planet, or be
completely free floating in space. Space stations are used by the
Federation, the Cardassians and other races. They can be used as
outposts often located in 'frontier' areas or along interstellar
borders; research stations specialized in scientific research; shipyards
specialized in the construction of starships, or as an orbital component
of a Starbase such as a spacedock.

The Ambassador class starship is a Starfleet heavy cruiser class launched in the mid 24th century. The class appears to be an intermediate design between the Excelsior and Galaxy classes. It is armed with both phasers and photon torpedoes with coverage to both fore and aft firing arcs. The control panels are flat-panel and LCARS based, using the interface introduced in the late 23rd century. The Apollo class is a starship design from the beginning of the 24th century, according to the known registries. The Apollo refit design is based on the upgraded Ambassador class. The registries of the Apollo being in the NCC-2999x plus range, the design would fit well into the era. (Memory Alpha) (Ex Astris Scientia) |

The Excelsior NX-2000 was originally equipped with an experimental transwarp drive. Although the "great experiment" of the transwarp drive failed to create a revolution in the nature of warp speeds and space travel, the Excelsior spaceframe was still the most advanced design in Starfleet. Despite the problems with the original design, Starfleet was still content with the existing space frame, ordering the construction of a large number of additional Excelsior vessels over the coming decades. The original Excelsior was slightly modified after its prototype run in accordance with its new propulsion scheme. Several years later, a new variant added modifications to the basic hull design. The Excelsior design is still in use as of the year 2376. (Ex Astris Scientia) (Memory Alpha)

The Sahara class Torpedo Cruisers were designed and built in response to the growing number of Romulan attacks near the neutral zone. In 2347 the concept of a quick response starship was suggested to Starfleet after the Romulan attack on the Khitomer colony. The Sahara class TC was designed with many of the technologies that would be used in the Galaxy class ships including, type X phaser arrays, warp core and coils, type III burst fire photon torpedo tubes, computer core, and the LCARS interface. The Panther class starship design began prior to the Dominion War, but was not brought to fruition until after the conflict. It was designed to augment the role of the Nova class and eventually replace them. The ship is small and agile, armed with type X phasers and two fore/aft Photon/Quantum torpedo launchers.

The Zodiac class concept was conceived before but fully developed during the Dominion War. The ship was designed to replace the aging Miranda class. This Frigate is fast and heavily armed with type XI phasers, two fore/aft Quantum torpedo launchers, and two fore/aft type III pulse phaser cannons. The role of this vessel class is primarily as an escort.

Luna-class starships were introduced in 2378, and were the top of the line in the Federation Starfleet's scientific and exploratory pursuits on behalf of the United Federation of Planets. Each had an average crew of the 350 individuals and was approximately 450 meters long. The USS Titan (NCC-80102) was a Federation starship, Luna-class, launched in 2379 under the command of Captain William T. Riker. (Memory Beta)
