I teach all of the Microsoft Office programs, as well as others, but my favorite applications to teach are PowerPoint, FrontPage, Publisher and good plain old HTML... I guess you can tell that I really enjoy the graphics side of computers!

It's hard to find the time to create original graphics, but I love scouring the web for great graphic artists like ann-s-thesia who created the "environment" that I'm using on this site.

Monmouth County, New Jersey, has been my lifetime home.  I live in Long Branch now and grew up in Rumson. I have 3 younger sisters: Joan lives in California; Ginny and Betsy still live in Monmouth County with their respective husbands, Frank and John, and their children (whom you can see in my Special Pictures section). My dad, John, lives in Rumson with his wife Mary; my mom, Grace, and her husband Art, recently returned to New Jersey after 14 years in Arizona.

I went to Skidmore College and graduated in 1968 with a B.S. in English. Then I taught English to 8th and 9th graders at Neptune Junior High School for eleven years. After that, I was manager of Creations, a jewelry store in Red Bank that was owned by my friend Barry, for thirteen years. During that time, I discovered computers and went to Brookdale Community College to learn programming. I used dbase to design the custom inventory system that we used at Creations.

When Windows arrived and PCs finally made it into the home, I was ecstatic! I taught myself Windows, as well as all of the applications that I know, by using them, playing with them, reading books and exploring the Internet.

For a few years after Creations closed, I worked for a brilliant computer consultant, Tom Lloyd, whose Red Bank business is Lloyd Consultants, Inc. He got me out of my software "comfort zone" and more into the technical and hardware side of computers, but the software is still my main interest. I think of my computer as just one big TOY BOX!
