The Instrument
The Steel Drum or Pan, was one of the only instruments invented during the 20th century. It originated in the small Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago. This highly sophisticated and unique instrument is capable of playing any type of music from Beethoven to jazz.
Steel Horizons Pan Group:
Steel Horizons is a duo group which gives you two live Steel Drummers; a classy sound at an affordable price. With a minimal amount of equipment, this setup is quick and the performers do not take up a lot of space. Also the volume is more controllable then larger bands, but it is still able to fill large rooms with sound, if necessary. This option is a good format for restaurants, private, or in-home parties,
etc. For our performances, we use a play along CD. (drums, bass and piano) to give you a full band sound.
The Music
Our repertoire offers both variety and flexibility. We play Calypso, Soca, and Reggae, the musical styles most commonly associated with Steel Drums and Caribbean dance music. We also play Latin, Jazz and "Margaritaville" style rock/pop, giving us the range to accommodate everything from back-ground music, poolside parties, cocktail receptions and dance music.
